Privacy Policy

H & R Contracting (“we”, “us”) is an Ottawa contracting company. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through www.hr-electric.com. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

When you use the contact form: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), the type of work you need, and your message.

When you email or call us: whatever you choose to tell us, plus your email address or phone number.

When you browse the site: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and how you arrived. This is collected by the services listed below, not by a form you fill in.

How we use it

• To reply to your inquiry, prepare a quote and carry out the work you ask for.
• To keep normal business records, such as job history and invoices.
• To understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it (in aggregate, through Google Analytics).
• To block spam and abuse of the contact form.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you contacted us.

Services that process information for us

We use a small number of outside providers to run this website. Some of them store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.

• Cloudflare hosts the website and runs Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that contact-form submissions come from a person and not a bot.
• Resend delivers contact-form messages to our inbox by email.
• Google Analytics uses cookies to measure visits and how pages are used. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (opens in a new tab) or by blocking cookies in your browser.
• Google Maps and Google Fonts are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address when the page loads.

Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy.

Cookies

We don’t set our own cookies. Google Analytics, Google Maps and Cloudflare Turnstile may set cookies or use similar technology as described above. Blocking cookies won’t stop the site from working, but the contact form’s spam check may ask you to complete a challenge.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiries and job records for as long as we need them to serve you and to meet our legal, tax and warranty obligations, then delete them. We delete inquiries that don’t lead to work once they’re no longer needed.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to us using it (unless we must keep it by law). Contact us using the details below and we’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (opens in a new tab).

Security

The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and access to the inbox that receives inquiries is limited to our staff. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, so please don’t send payment card numbers or passwords through the contact form.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
